Our verdict
This tour fits a typical Key West call (8:00 am–3:30 pm). It runs up to 2 h; ashore by 8:20 am, you can start by 8:25 am and be back at the gangway around 10:30 am — 4 h to spare on top of a 1 h safety margin.
Rule of thumb: it keeps the safety margin as long as all aboard is 11:30 am or later. Even a short 7:00 am–2:00 pm call works.
The start point (U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Ingham Maritime Museum) is about 400 m from Outer Mole Pier, an easy walk — no taxi needed, and no transfer time eating into your day.
Among the 350 Key West shore excursions we track, this is one of the shorter ones (the median runs 3 h); 85% of them fit a typical call.
Computed from the tour's published duration, the distance from the cruise pier to its start point and the typical Key West call. Adjust your ship's times above to recheck.
About this tour
The USCGC INGHAM was the longest continually serving, most decorated ship in Coast Guard History.
Serving in active duty from 1936 to 1988. Only remaining American ship afloat to have fought in the Battle of the Atlantic. Command ship for several Philippines landings including General Douglas MacArthur's return to Corrigedor, he was aboard during this action. First allied vessel into Chinese waters at wars end. Two Presidential Unit Citations for support missions in Viet Nam. Also part of the Mariel Boatlift, when tens of thousands of Cuban refugees left their island home seeking refuge in the U.S.
Now a National Historic Landmark and Coast Guard National Memorial to Guardsmen that have lost their lives in World War Two and Viet Nam.
The Ingham also offers one of the best sunset views in Key West.
